Lazy Maizy Socks
Mood:  happy

This is my very favorite kind of sock pattern Easy!!! I am pretty sure that this free pattern will become a very popular pattern. The pattern suggested that you should go down a needle size for a snug fit, so I did, and I am glad that I did. They fit just fine. I used Trekking XXL sock yarn. The pattern can be found here

Playing with yarn
Mood:  happy

I spent the afternoon today hand dyeing some yarn. I dyed the yarn with Easter egg dry. I just love the beautiful Spring colors. Yellow, Pink, and green. I used Knit Picks Wool of the andes Bare.

Go On With Your Knittin'
(Unknown Irish Poet)

When the folks next to you act like those in the zoo
A grumblin', growlin' and spittin'
It's a pretty good plan
To be as calm as you can
And do something useful?like knittin'.

When a gossipin' Susan with poison barbed tongue
Comes into the room where you're sittin'
And starts to defame
Some neighbor's good name
Count your stitches out loud and keep knittin'.

When there's been a slight misunderstandin' at the church
And others hint broadly of quittin'
Why the very best thing
You can do is to sing
And stay at your post and keep knittin'.

When Satan moves in with his cohorts of sin
Say, "You'll never find me submitin'.
You irk me I find
So get thee behind
And please don't disturb me?I'M KNITTIN!"

In the middle of problems, the big and the small
It's always proper and fittin'
To trust and to pray
'Til the Lord shows the way
An' go right on ahead with your knittin'.

My Sweet Granddaughter Casey
Mood:  hug me
Now Playing: Easy Chocolate Croissants

My sweet Granddaughter spent the weekend with me. The weather outside was YUCKY, so we stayed in and baked. We made Easy Chocolate Croissants. We told Papa to buy us some croissant dough. He brought home the roll croissants, instead of the triangle croissants. But we used them any way. They were so very good!!

Easy Chocolate Croissants

8 ounce package refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/3 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
colored sprinkles

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Unroll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cover each triangle with about 2 teaspoons chocolate chips, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Roll up triangles, starting from the wide end. Transfer to a baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes, until golden brown. Place crescents on a wire rack to cool slightly. In a small bowl, mix sugar and milk
until smooth. With a small spoon, drizzle icing stripes on each of them.

Yorkshire Beef Pie
Mood:  hungry
Now Playing: Tried and True

I made this for my husband yesterday and he loved it. I did add more ground beef, vegtables, gravey, and onions. Because Matt LOVES onions.

Yorkshire Beef Pie
3/4 lb. ground beef
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup cooked vegetables (I use the small can of Veg-All)
1 (10-1/2 oz.) can beef gravy
1/2 cup water
1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
2 TBSP butter
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
In large skillet, cook ground beef and onion until meat is browned and onion is tender; drain. Add vegetables and 1/4 cup of the gravy. In a small saucepan, stir water and Worcestershire sauce into the remaining gravy and set aside. In a 10-inch pie plate, place butter (or margarine) and put in oven. Set oven at 425. Meanwhile, in small mixer bowl, combine milk and eggs; add flour, salt and pepper. Beat until mixture is smooth. Remove dish with butter from oven. Pour egg mixture into hot dish and spoon meat mixture evenly over bottom, keeping 1 inch from the edge. Return to oven and bake at 425 for 25 to 30 minutes or until browned and puffed. Heat gravy; pass with pie. Serve at once.
YIELD: 4 servings.
