Casey is Knitting
Mood:  hug me
Now Playing: Casey made 2 scarves
My Granddaughter Casey spent the weekend with me, and we knitted. I bought her a child's knitting machine. She knitted 2 scarves, and she is pretty proud of herself. We also made chocolate oatmeal cookies. We always have a great time together.

Flashy slippers
Mood:  silly
Now Playing: slippers for my Mom
My Mom is 73 years old, and a very flashy girl. She wears very colorful clothing. You can definitely see her coming. Big earing's, and a watch to match every outfit that she wears. I think that she watches to much QVC, and the Home shopping network. Any way I have made her a pair of slippers. I used Yarn Bee Yarn in the color Nightfire. It is a fuzzy black and gold yarn. I got this yarn at Hobby Lobby. And 1 strand of Red Heart Black held together so that the slippers would be warm. I also knit a pair of Pink slippers for my niece Misty, and a pair of black wool slippers for her husband Jason.

Top-Down Mittens for Kids
Mood:  special
Now Playing: Making Gifts
I have made a pair of Top-Down mittens for my Granddaughter Casey. I have never made anything from the top-down before. I may try to knit a pair of socks from the top-down some day. The pattern for these mittens came from
http://www.p2designs.com/pdfs/ptn-MittTopDn.pdf
I used Lamb's Pride worsted wool for these mittens. I am sure these will keep her fingers nice and warm this winter. Next on the needles is more fuzzy slippers. I have more gifts to knit. The Red gloves are for my Mother-in-law, she is a Red Hat lady. I am sure that she will enjoy the gloves.

Yarn shopping
Mood:  on fire
I went shopping today, and my credit card is sizzling. I had a nice time with my sister. We went to lunch. Then to Hobby Lobby. Yarn was on sale so I bought $113.00 worth of yarn. I just love the glitzy yarns. I don't know what i am going to make with them yet. I bought a new quilt, and a bracelet. And a suede jacket for my dog Elvis. I am sure that he will just love his new jacket.

I have finished a pair of slippers. The are called Shaker slippers. The pattern has an optional cuff. I made them with a cuff. The pattern also says to use size 13 needles, so I did, but if I make them again, I am going to use a smaller needle, because the knit is to loose. I would like a closer tighter knit. I used TLC Essentials yarn, the color Falling leaves, and the color Autumn red. I like the way that these 2 colors look together. The pattern came from http://www.p2designs.com/ShkrSlpr.htm
